Hafen Markt – EDEKA Münster - Concept Restaurant

In collaboration with IMOON

The Hafen Markt – EDEKA Münster project was a particularly interesting and complex intervention, developed across several design levels. The main challenge was to work within a new structure while giving it a strong, warm, and recognizable identity. For this reason, in the first phase we created a space with a vintage character, inspired by the atmosphere of historic department stores. Materials, lighting, details, and proportions were carefully studied to recreate an authentic feeling, almost from another era, avoiding the cold and impersonal effect typical of many contemporary commercial spaces. The second step focused on the design of the food court, conceived as an area for meeting and spending time, not simply as a place for consumption. The goal was to create a welcoming space, with an identity consistent with the rest of the market, capable of improving the customer experience and increasing the time spent inside the structure. The third design level involved the exterior area and the parking space. Here, we developed a more scenic and architectural intervention by introducing artificial structures inspired by trees: true iron sculptures, designed to host climbing plants and gradually transform into green, natural, and recognizable elements. This was a way to give quality and value even to a space normally considered purely functional, such as a parking area. The entire supermarket area was developed by Schweitzer, a company based in Naturno, South Tyrol / Südtirol. For me, this project represents a very interesting example of how interior architecture, lighting, atmosphere, and exterior interventions can work together to build a strong, memorable, and unconventional commercial identity.

Key Points:
- Vintage identity within a new structure: Transforming a contemporary building into a warm, authentic, and recognizable environment, inspired by historic markets and old department stores.
- Food court as an experiential space: Creating an area that is not only functional for consumption, but designed as a place for meeting, resting, and interaction, capable of enhancing the quality of the customer’s stay.
- Parking area transformed into an architectural element: Creating an area that is not only functional for consumption, but designed as a place for meeting, resting, and interaction, capable of enhancing the quality of the customer's stay.
