Rewe, Deutschland, Köln
Located in the heart of Cologne, in one of the city's highest footfall areas, the REWE supermarket owned by the Richrath family integrates a food court conceived as an experiential space. My commission focused on the design of the bakery, pizza, pasta, and café areas, developed through a contemporary Italian design language-warm and immediately recognizable. The project goes beyond the logic of simple purchasing, transforming part of the supermarket into a place to be experienced. The use of authentic materials—saw-cut oak and white Carrara marble—together with careful attention to detail, defines a welcoming, credible, and timeless atmosphere.
Key Points:
- Food court as a destination: from a purely functional area to an experiential space that increases dwell time and attractiveness.
- Authentic Italian identity: Natural materials, a warm palette, and a coherent architectural language.
- Quality as a commercial strategy: Design and detailing as tools to differentiate the supermarket and enhance its perceived value.
